The publication sought to showcase the role of international aid in situations of national conflict, particularly in relation to issues of militarism and food sovereignty. It contains four case studies from four global regions: Colombia from Latin America and the Caribbean, Ethiopia from East Africa, Pakistan from South Asia, and Palestine from Middle East and North Africa.

The People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) condemns the TPLF-led government of Ethiopia for the death of hundreds during a protest at a religious festival in Bishoftu, 25 miles from the country’s capital Addis Ababa last Sunday, October 2. Food sovereignty is one of the most important demands being advanced by the indigenous people of Oromo who participated in the protest. 

PCFS condemns the recent spate of killings of activist farmers belonging to organizations affiliated with the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) or Peasant Movement of the Philippines.

PCFS to mark October 12 as Farmers’ Day of Action for Food Justice, calls on all member formations to hold forums, rallies and other activities and carry the call "Food Justice Now!".
