People’s Global Conference Against IMF-World Bank | 12-14 October 2018 | Bali, Indonesia
The International Coordinating Committee of the Peoples’ Movement Against IMF-World Bank* is pleased to invite you to the Peoples’ Global Conference Against IMF-WB on 12 to 14 October 2018 to be held at Radio Republic of Indonesia (RRI), Jl. Melati, Dangin Puri Kangin, Denpasar Utara, Denpasar City, Bali, Indonesia.
The Conference is an independent, people-led initiative that seeks to register peoples’ resistance to IMF-World Bank’s corporatization of development and to reclaim their right to chart their own path towards a democratic, just, and equitable future. The Conference is organized by the broad alliance of Indonesian movements under the umbrella of Gerakan Rakyat Menentang IMF-WB and 10 global networks and civil society coalitions . The Conference runs parallel with the 2018 IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting in Bali.
With the theme of “Reclaim our rights and future: Fight corporate takeover of development” the Conference will delve into the different ways resources, economies, and global rulemaking are captured and monopolized by a few wealthy and powerful nations and their transnational corporations, and how these have impacted the lives and future of the peoples’ of the global South. It will seek to find commonalities in sectors’ struggles against international financial institutions and come up with plans of action to help strengthen solidarities.
The Conference will also host a number of pre-conference workshops and fora to allow organizations and networks to further discuss their advocacies, connect with movements, and build campaign initiatives.
The dates below are the schedule of activities of the Conference:

● October 12 – 14: Peoples’ Global Conference Against IMF-World Bank and Peoples’ Mobilization
As this event is an independent initiative of peoples’ movements, participants will need to self-fund their visa application, travel, accommodation, and living costs.

* The International Organizing Committee is composed of Asia Pacific Mission for Migrants, Asia Pacific Research Network, Asian Peasant Coalition, IBON International, Indigenous Peoples’ Movement for Self Determination and Liberation, International League of Peoples’ Struggle, Pesticide Action Network – Asia Pacific, Peoples’ Coalition on Food Sovereignty, People Over Profit, and Reality of Aid – Asia Pacific.
** Please note that Indonesian authorities have put up restrictive measures for participants coming outside Bali. To be able to come to Bali and join the Conference, you will need to register here and receive a confirmation and badge from World Bank. Deadline for the World Bank registration is on September 7. This registration process is by the World Bank and not the People’s Global Conference. We encourage you to register to avoid being turned away by the Indonesian authorities at the immigration.
