PCFS joins the Global Civil Society Summit 2019

PCFS as a member of the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) joined the one-day Global Civil Society Summit held in Belgrade, Serbia on 8 April 2019. The Summit is organized by the CPDE, CIVICUS, Action for Sustainable Development, Civic Initiatives, and the Balkan Civil Society Development Network, and it precedes the CIVICUS’s International Civil Society Week 2019 on April 9 to 11.

This initiative aims to bring together a wide cross section of civil society global leadership to issue a Declaration and Call to Action that essentially say ‘enough is enough’ in the attacks on civil society and human rights defenders. The Summit issued a Declaration that leaders signed at the Summit as well as a more specific Call to Action for governments with actions that can make a difference.

About 200 participants attended the Summit, including CSOs who are coming to the CIVICUS International Civil Society Week as well as CPDE delegates.
