People’s Global Conference Against IMF-World Bank | 12-14 October 2018 | Bali, Indonesia

With the theme of “Reclaim our rights and future: Fight corporate takeover of development” the Conference will delve into the different ways resources, economies, and global rulemaking are captured and monopolized by a few wealthy and powerful nations and their transnational corporations, and how these have impacted the lives and future of the peoples’ of the global South. It will seek to find commonalities in sectors’ struggles against international financial institutions and come up with plans of action to help strengthen solidarities.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day: Int’l groups demand pullout, accountability of Chinese company in Cambodia | IPWID 2018

The International Indigenous Peoples Movement for Self-Determination and Liberation (IPMSDL) and the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS), both based in the Philippines, launched the petition early this year to gather the support of the international community in urging the governments of China and Cambodia to act upon the issue. The petition is endorsed by around 350 organizations from different countries, some of which will also spearhead parallel actions in their respective countries on Aug. 9, 2018.

There’s nothing humanitarian about Golden Rice | #StopGoldenRice Global Day of Action

We, the Peoples’ Coalition for Food Sovereignty and all our members and networks, are one with the Stop Golden Rice Network in claiming this day – August 8 – as the Global Day of Action against Golden Rice. As an international rural peoples’ movement committed to assert the peoples’ right to food, we reiterate our utter disgust and condemnation to Syngenta-ChemChina’s efforts to pose their Golden Rice project as a “humanitarian service” to cloak their corporate agenda of further cornering seed markets and profiteering from farmers through it.

Philippines is unsafe for farmers fighting for land

Alarmingly, land grabbing by landlords and transnational corporations in the rural communities [of the Philippines] is often accompanied by militarization and brutal violations of the human rights. The political killings related to land conflicts in the country continue and worsen with blatant impunity.
